Where smaller volumes or maximum flexibility are required then shuttle kilns are often the best solution. The use of computer control systems and multiple control zones has meant that larger and larger production capacities can be fired effectively using shuttle kilns.
- This keeps down capital expenditure as well as allowing firing schedules to be adapted to suit a plant’s production requirements after intensive investigation and collaboration between Dragon and TCK and the customer.
With handling systems designed to fit into plan layouts and robots and automation playing a bigger part in many ceramic processes, shuttle kilns can be developed to operate in an almost continuous way as an alternative to a tunnel kiln.
